Volunteer with us
Here at St Mary we have a long established relationship with the Hive Foodbank, giving out food to those most vulnerable in our community. During this time we have also established a Friday Night Takeaway meal for those in need in our community. We have seen a big increase in need and therefore an increase in the work involved. Here are some of the ways you could help us.
Volunteers are the backbone of all our work, and we are grateful to anyone who is able to give time to help out. Have a look at the job roles below to see where you could serve your local community. To register interest, get in touch through our contact page.
Tuesdays to Thursdays for one to three hours
We get a lot of deliveries each week for the Hive food bank. Stacking the shelves, keeping things clean and moving around food is weekly work that can always benefit from a helping hand.
Varying from early morning (8am) until late evening (8:30pm)
If you have a car and time in your day, drivers are always welcome. We are regularly donated food from charities and companies who partner with us. Drivers are needed to collect the food and deliver it to the church on an ad hoc basis.
Fridays from 10am-12pm or during the week
We currently run a service called Friday Night Takeaway, providing free meals to members of the community. Chefs and sous chefs are needed to prepare the meals each week. Experience is helpful, but novices are welcome.
a couple of hours a week
Helpers are needed to collate and input the data from the Hive foodbank each week.
An hour on Thursdays
We are looking for people willing to shop for food for the Friday Night Takeaway when extra ingredients are needed.
