Volunteering

Packing parcels and providing food

Each Wednesday evening we host the Hive foodbank and receive surplus food from a number of different sources. We welcome volunteers who are willing to sort donations, pack food parcels and serve in many other ways to run our food hub. Wednesday 10am-3pm is our busiest time but there is work to be done every day.

Delivering parcels

If you can drive, we are also looking for volunteers who can deliver food parcels to the vulnerable and collect donations. These are often delivered on a Thursday but if you cannot do that day, we are open every weekday. We also have an electric cargo bike to deliver local parcels.

Teaching a recipe

Cook Together is a cooking class where we teach simple, cheap and delicious recipes. If you know a cheap but delicious recipe that can be cooked on two hobs, you would be so welcome to teach us. Classes only involve around four people. If you would like to find out more contact Jo on jo.davey@smhr.org.uk.

Gardening

We have partnered with Octopus Community gardens to make our outdoor space a place for anyone to find their green fingers. We meet every Tuesday 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.

Welcoming people

During the week, we open our building to anyone passing. We are always looking for people who are willing to be there to offer friendly chat, prayer or a cup of tea to those who pop in. If you would like to help out do pop into the church and if you would like to sign up as a volunteer please do fill in this form.
